Rosemount Music Victoriaville Competition 2024

Band Photos will be Thursday, April 11, 2024

A rogue snowstorm is responsible for cancelling our photo session last week. We have rescheduled the session for all grades this coming Thursday, April 11, 2024. Please wear your concert band uniform. Black shoes and socks are a must! See you then!

Rosemount Music Launches Arts-Etudes Program in Music

Rosemount High School (3737 Beaubien inaugurated its new Arts-études program, the first-of-its-kind amongst English high schools in Quebec on Thursday, February 15 as part of the EMSB Hooked on School Week initiative.

Disney Information Meeting

There will be a mandatory Disney information session this Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. There will be a meeting for ALL chaperones at 7:00 p.m. before the main meeting in the classroom behind the stage.

Rosemount Music Students participate in McGill Honor Band

Seven students participated in the McGill Honor Band taking place Friday, March 15, 2024 at the Schulich School of Music on McGill campus. Under the direction of Dr. Danielle Gaudry the students along with other selected high school students from all over Quebec and even as far as Ontario arrived at McGill early Friday morning for an intense day of rehearsals. The day was followed by a performance that evening in the Schulich auditorium. This event was sponsored in part by the Quebec Band Association and Twigg Music.

Happy New Year 2024!!!

What an incredibly busy first Term we have had in Rosemount Music this past semester. Ever since the beginning of the year with performances at Open House, Graduation, the Remembrance Day DJ session as well as the impromptu DJ session during the Teacher’s Strike in November, new staff, Disney fundraising and pre-Disney activities, the preparation yet cancellation (postponement) of the Holiday Elementary School Music tour and Holiday Concert and Class Act performing at the EMSB Headquarters for the Annual EMSB Directors Holliday Luncheon. Oh yeah, and by the way, the Arts-Etudes program is officially off the ground and actually flying!! WOW! What a start!! Here are a few images and clips from some of those events.

Class Act finishes the year on a high note!

Class Act performed their last gig of this school year last week on June 1, 2023 for Quebec’s Ministry of Education. The band was selected to perform a short showcase of their music during the 50th Anniversary for the Comite de Gestion de la tax scholar de l’ile de Montreal. The group was even picked up directly from school in the style of a private Coach bus with air conditioning for that hot 34 degree day. Wow!!!

Class Act 'acting up' again!

This past weekend Class Act played for another engagement representing Rosemount Music. This time in support of Montreal model Aiesha Robinson and her Born To Rise event in Lasalle. The group met at the high school in the early afternoon to travel almost an hour to reach Lasalle. They then provided the cocktail hour entertainment while more than a hundred people began entering the annual event. Mr. Cooperwood even sang a couple of songs!

The event was full of stories from individuals that have overcome challenges and adversity to become the heroes they are today. Class Act was met with a very warm reception and welcome to all attendees. Keep ‘acting out’, Class Act! We see you!

Class Act does 1st corporate gig

A Corporate Gig (otherwise known as a wedding band gig or a club date is a typical professional job that musicians do from time to time. Some musicians make a living from them. Class Act did their 1st Club Date this past weekend for a 50th Surprise Birthday private party. Mr. Cooperwood guided them all the way through from scheduling the job to setting up and even making a song setlist of almost 15 songs that band had to play throughout the evening. The band’s schedule has actually filled up with other jobs all the way to the end of this school year. Great job and welcome to the Big Leagues, Class Act!!!

Class Act makes Big imp-"Act"

Class Act is a student music group composed of Secondary 4 & 5 students from the Rosemount Music Department under the Direction of Anthony Cooperwood at Rosemount High School in Montreal, QC. All of the students rehearse once per week afterschool outside of their normal studies. They perform a variety of styles of music from classic Soul from the likes of Wilson Pickett and Al Green to Contemporary Jazz Grover Washington, Jr and Rock & Roll like Guns & Roses. Class Act won 1^st Place in the Combo category at the 22^nd Music Festival Concours Solistes & Petits Ensembles sponsored by the FHOSQ (Festival des Harmonies et des Orchestres Symphoniques du Quebec).

Rosemount Music Brings home the gold!

Rosemount Music Department students won individual solo 1^st Place Gold Medals for their participation in the 22^nd Music Festival Concours Solistes & Petits Ensembles sponsored by the FHOSQ (Festival des Harmonies et des Orchestres Symphoniques du Quebec). Hundreds of students attended the annual event from all over Quebec even as far out as Abitibi-Temiscamingue more than 8 hours away. Rosemount Music is very proud of them.

2022 Elementary Music Tour A Big Success!!!

Rosemount Music has been very busy over this last week visiting area elementary schools. This annual event brings Hanukah, Christmas and holiday cheer to many of our EMSB family. We were happy to visit Nesbitt, Dante, Pierre De Coubertin, Edward Murphy, Pierre Elliot Trudeau, and Honore Mercier. Many of our Symphonic Winds were graduates of these elementary schools. It was a welcome homecoming for all!
